Good Morning !!!
Today I want to show you these cool FaBrIc FlOwErs I have been making.
They are really easy, just a little bit time consuming when you make 500!
Just kidding, it seems like I made FlOwErs for days! I know I counted over 200 that I made! Whewh! I love these flowers so much! They are soooo pretty!
Here is how to make them:
1.) Purchase random blouses, and some fabrics from thrift store, Poly Satin, lace, tulle , and some beads or pearls to sew on the flowers.
2.) Cut fabrics into your desired size of circles.
3.) Light candle and lightly burn around the edges to form the curvature of your "petals".
4.) I used 4-5 petals per flower to make them really full. Stack them together and sew on some little pearls (which I bought a broken pearl necklace to use).
5.) I also sewed some simple ribbon/lace ribbon to the backs so people could tie them on something, and for the chokers I made.
Tip: Poly Satin worked the best when I burned the edges to curl and form the petals.
Also, make sure you take your time when you burn the tulle. Don't get too close to the flame! Slowly put your tulle towards the flame - you don't need to get too close or it will burn!
Here are my b4 & After photos of projects I made with my flowers.
Tip #2:
Don't worry about getting your circle shapes perfect!
I was originally going to use my circle dies, but because I was cutting so many different sizes and would have had to cut up the fabric first b4 I put it into my bigshot, I just cut 4 layers of fabric at a time into random shapes that were sure not perfect, but that is what makes the flowers so pretty and "Shabby Chic'd"!
Chokers:
I made this random purple choker for my friend Sherry at ACM. Purple is her favorite color and I just had to try a different color. I might make some more?...
Tip #3:
I sewed a few stiches on the sides to make the flowers have more of a gathered pleated look.
Clipboards:
I painted the clip part almond and left the rest of the clipboard brown because I knew I would cover that part with the fabric. I sprayed the clip board with spray adhesive and worked my way up from the bottom of the clipboard. I then used an exacto knife to cut around the top of the clipboard and under the clip part. Then just tie on your handmade flower. It was easy to do. If anyone needs help just email me:-)
Clipboard after:
Lamp shades b4:
I bought these lampshades at the thrift store.
After:
I sewed the flowers onto the shades.
Basket b4:
I painted them white and added a thrift store skirt for the liner. Then sewed the flower on.
Thrift store hats after I washed them.

Here is a giant one I made for a pillow. These are really cool & I plan on making more for my booth and my own home:-)
Here is a bench and a stool that I painted shabby, and then added the cushions. The stool was snatched up by Sherry, my friend, a vendor at ACM which I also painted a vanity and Shabby Chic'd it for her. Love them!!!
Bench b4:
Bench after:
I painted it almond color, then added a thrift store cushion, and sewed my flowers to the lace and simply just tied them on.
Stool b4:
Stool after:
Love that Shabby Chic! I kept the bench for myself and almost kept the stool. It belonged to the dresser I was asked by my friend Sherry @ ACM to paint & Shabby Chic up!
Dresser b4:
Here it is in it's new home at ACM in my friend Sherry's booth:
LOVE LOVE LOVE making all these Shabby Chic projects!!!
Thanks for stopping by and I have tons more to share, and may post twice this week.
Stay tuned for these cool Modgepodged boxes I am making, and for some furniture I am painting!!!
These flowers are just beautiful!! I'll add this technique to the very long list of things I want to try someday. I love your booth as well...wish I could live there!!
